2013 Odds to win NFC Conference

The New York Giants took the NFL by surprise last year representing the NFC Conference and defeating the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl. The Giants caught fire at the right time and were playing as well as anyone. So are the Giants favored in 2013?

No but their odds have moved up. The Green Bay Packers are the favorites to win the 2013 NFC Conference at +295 odds with the New Orleans Saints next at +405 and the Giants at +605. It’s no coincidence that these teams also own the three best quarterbacks in the NFC. Rodgers, Brees and Manning are all at the top of everyone’s quarterback list. The Packers won the Super Bowl two years ago as the number 6 seed in the NFC but last year earned the number one seed with a 15-1 record but were upset by the Giants.

The next two teams come from the NFC East according to the betting odds. Philadelphia, who most NFL experts predict to have a bounce back year are currently +805 with the always over achieving Dallas Cowboys at +905. Both of these teams have franchise quarterbacks with Tony Romo and Michael Vick.

Next are two teams who took the NFL by storm last year. The San Francisco 49ers has been irrelevant until Jim Harbaugh took over and brought the Niners to the NFC Championship game before losing in over time. The books have the 49ers at +905 odds to win the NFC. The Detroit Lions have been a team who just doesn’t sniff the playoffs but they did last year and they have a deadly combination at QB/WR with Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson. It will be interesting to see of the Lions can build on their success. Other teams from the NFC North will be looking to get back to the playoffs are the Chicago Bears at +1605 who were riding hot last year until losing Jay Cutler and Matt Forte to season ending injuries but the Minnesota Vikings +4225 appear to have a long way to go.
