The first four weeks have passed for the CappersMall Canadian Football League contest. The Edmonton Eskimos continued to impress with  a stingy defense and were the road upset of the week, a 27-14 win over British Columbia.

The two leaders of the contest with eight points are davydave and slammer. Several CFL handicappers are one game behind with six points. You can follow the CFL contest standings by clicking here.

The Canadian Football League will kick off the regular season with two games on Friday, June 29th, 2012. Saskatchewan travels to Hamilton and Winnipeg plays at British Columbia. On Saturday, Toronto visits Edmonton and Calgary hosts Montreal on Sunday.

CappersMall has set up the 5th annual CFL contest post on the Canadian Football message boards. It’s a free contest where players will picks games against the spread each week. The contest format is unique as it limits picks to one per week for the first half of the contest which keeps more players interested and competing. You can read the full rules by clicking here.

British Columbia is the favorite to win the 2012 Grey Cup at +325 with Hamilton next at +400 followed by Calgary +500, Montreal +500, Toronto +500, Winnipeg +725, Edmonton +900 and Saskatchewan +1400.

The NFL seems to dominate the headlines even in the off-season when nothing is going on but not in Canada where fans are getting excited about the 2012 Canadian Football season. Pre-Season games begin on June 13th and the regular season will kick off on Canada Day Kickoff on Friday June 29th with two games.

5Dimes has posted updated betting odds on who will win the 2012 Grey Cup. Calgary is the pre-season favorite at +400 with BC Lions and Hamilton right behind them at +460 and +475 respectively. Montreal and Winnipeg both have respectable numbers at +575 and at +725, Toronto would be considered a long shot with only Edmonton and Saskatchewan expected to be worse.
