Pitchers and catcher have reported to Spring Training and we are about a month away until the Major League Baseball opener. We wanted to take a quick look at the MLB divisional odds.

The New York Yankees are the heavy favorites in the AL East at -145 at 5Dimes. Boston is next at +275, followed by Tampa Bay +600, Toronto +1050 and Baltimore +10,000.

The oddsmakers don’t plan on a playoff race in the Al Central. Detroit is -450 with Kansas City +1000, Cleveland +1100, Minnesota +1200 and Chicago +1800.

It could be a great race between two in the AL West this year. The Angels are favored at -125 followed by the Rangers +110 and then Oakland is +3000 and Seattle +4000.

The Phillies are more than a 3/1 favorite in the NL East. 5Dimes offers the Phillies -320 followed by Atlanta and Florida at +700. Washington is +900 and the NY Mets are +6000.

Cincinnati is favored in the NL Central at +135 with St. Louis next at +225, followed by Milwaukee +275, Chicago +1500, Pittsburgh +1700 and Houston +10,000.

The NL West could be competitive. The Giants are +158 favorites with Arizona next at +175. The Dodgers are +450, Colorado is +700 and San Diego is +2500.

The Phillies are favored to win the World Series at 5/1 followed by the Yankees at 6.5/1, LA Angels 9/1, Boston 10/1 and Detroit & Texas at 11/1.

The next few go like this – Marlins 17.5/1, Giants 18/1, Reds 22/1, Braves 23/1, Rays 23/1, Cardinals 27/1 and Arizona 28/1. The biggest long shot is the Astros at 230/1.

There is something about the baseball season that gets me excited every year. It doesn’t always last the season but it always starts the season. Maybe it’s because our team is still not out of it, our fantasy team still has championship aspirations but mostly the anticipation of what great things will happen this baseball season. Will Matt Kemp complete a 50/50? Will Albert Pujols and Prince Fielder succeed in the American League? Can the Marlins catch the Phillies?

So many questions! Another sign that baseball is close is when you get MLB future odds up. Sometimes you can find a gem inside the Baseball Team vs Team Regular Season Wins Matchups. Here is one that I like.

Arizona +1 -115 over Tampa

I give the Rays all the credit in the world but let’s face it, they play in the toughest division in baseball and the Yankees and Red Sox will be good again while the Blue Jays could be improved and even Baltimore is headed in the right direction. Tampa is still a low budget team and not everything will go right.

The Diamondbacks get a much weaker division. Nothing that I see shows me the Padres will be improved and I even see the Giants and Rockies taking a step back. You have to appreciate the job Kirk Gibson did and look for a greater season in year two.

Here are a few more available matchups.

Atlanta +4.5 -120
Texas -4.5 -110

Chicago Cubs -1/2 +110
Chicago White Sox + ½ -140

Colorado -1/2 -115
Toronto +1/2 -115

Houston +5.5 -110
Baltimore -5.5 -120

LA Dodgers +11.5 +120
LA Angels -11.5 -110

Miami Marlins +2.5 -115
Tampa Rays -2.5 -115

San Francisco +4.5 -120
Detroit -4.5 -110

Washington Nationals -4 -110
Toronto Blue Jays +4

All of the big free agents have finally signed, pitchers and catchers will be reporting to spring training in the near future and odds are posted on who will win the World Series.

The Los Angeles Angels and Detroit Tigers both made a big splash in free agency signing both Albert Pujols and Prince Fielder to deals for over $200 million dollars. Odds have shifted as well.

The Angels are 13/2 odds to win the World Series, only behind the favored Philadelphia Phillies at 11/2. The Yankees who have been relatively quiet this offseason are also 13/2 and Detroit and Texas come in at 9/1 respectively.

Another team who made a splash in free agency was the Florida Marlins. Bovada.lv has Florida at 15/1 to win the title. Last year World Series winner St. Louis, who must overcome the Pujols lost is 18/1 and the Bobby Valentine led Boston Red Sox are looking to get back to winning ways are 10/1 odds to win.

Other odds to note are;

Texas Rangers 9/1

San Francisco Giants 16/1

Atlanta Braves 20/1

Tampa Bay Rays 20/1

Washington Nationals 25/1

Los Angeles Dodgers 30/1

Baltimore and Houston are the two longest shots at 100/1.
